LIBERTY SQUARE ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR EXPANSION

EGG HARBOR, WI — September, 2009 Liberty Square of Egg Harbor announced today that it will perform an extensive remodeling project this winter to significantly expand customer services including kitchen remodeling and integration of additional shops. The firm has submitted a building permit application to the village of Egg Harbor for approval to move forward and will be closed January 3rd and reopening on April 15, 2010.

“The main driver of this remodeling project is that our kitchen production capacity must be significantly expanded. We need to add special purpose food preparation equipment in order to meet the rapidly growing demand for our restaurant, catering, bakery, and in-house private party services,” said Susan Moneypenny, the company’s General Manager.

In addition to the kitchen remodeling, two shops in the building which have been leased to other parties will be revamped in order to expand the product offerings at Liberty Square. A variety of other miscellaneous changes through out the complex will also be implemented.

Liberty Square opened in early 2007 by Richard and Pamela Wegner of Ephraim and Chris Anderson of Egg Harbor. Since that time, General Manager Susan Moneypenny and Josh Blevins, the Executive Chef have acquired ownership positions. The firm currently employs approximately 46 area people and the expansion is expected to create several new jobs.

Chris Anderson said that the firm decided to move ahead with the remodeling early this summer when the crush of current business made the decision inevitable.

Pamela Wegner who has been in charge of the company’s retail operation said the remodeling is an opportunity to revise not just the two new shops but the entire layout of the retail section.

“We want to create a fresh and exciting new display of products flowing naturally throughout our physically interconnected shops. People enjoy the experience of exploring new things when they come in, and we want to accommodate them.”

Moneypenny added that they want to be very specific about the dates to enable Liberty Square’s loyal customers to make plans accordingly. “We have booked many events already for 2010, and our business office will be open during the entire remodeling project to help customers arrange events like wedding related functions, family reunions, and anniversary celebrations that require forward planning.”

“We thought long and hard about staying open during the construction project, but the extensive physical changes in the kitchen, along with changes in the electrical and plumbing, as well as new equipment installation simply did not allow us to do this.” Moneypenny added.

Liberty Square’s “Winter” remodeling project got an early start this summer with an exterior “face lift.” Painters have spent the last three weeks transforming the previously all white structure into a medley of bright colors that add a rich new character to the building.
